Sisley, Paris (Part 1)

Legendary Phytocosmetology

Part 1

I was shocked to read Paula’s choice post reviewing a Sisley product while I was sharing my own experience on several different brands of skin care products including Sisley products at

First, all Sisley products do contain fragrance but the smell is light and subtle that actually brightens up your senses, and I haven’t heard anyone including myself have any irritation or any kind of allergic reaction from using of any Sisley product. Second, each Sisley product is tailored for a specific action to the skin based on each plant’s unique active chemical properties and by combining with other plants extracts to achieve the optimization of the specific action for various types of skin conditions and skin needs in each different life stage. It’s safe and natural which is perfect for those who have sensitive skin or easy to have allergic reactions. And, YES, I do agree with Paula that the price is extremely expensive, and the price has gone up enormously over the 20 years of my usage. The following are a list of products that my family members and myself have been using for at least 20+ years and continue to use.

Sisley – Floral Toning Lotion

Sisley Floral Toning Lotion

Excellent toning lotion. I normally use it after cleaning my face or after a long flight. The fragrance smells so smoothing, and it also moisturizes and refreshes your skin. I also used it to remove facial milk cleanser; my mom in particular loves to use it to remove make-up.

Sisley – Phyto-Blanc Lightening Toning Lotion Whiten Toner

I immediately switched from Floral Toning as soon Sisley released this product. I’m big fan on whitening my face skin because I’m easy to get freckles after a period of sun exposure, and I do enjoy to get a somewhat “white” skin tone on my face. Like the Floral toning, it also contains light plant smells, and it not only moistures and refreshes the skin but also serves as protection from sun damage. It’s not a noticeable whitening effect but overtime it does “lighten” up skin tone.

Sisley – Floral Spray Mist Floral Spray Mist

My dear mother purchased this item for me, and I only used one bottle and never purchased it again. I don’t see the effectiveness compared to what the product described. My mother was sold on the moisturizing which is particularly helpful for someone like myself with severe dehydrated skin and taking lots of airplane flights. So I don’t recommended it but I do see a few people as part of their carry on and spray it a few times throughout a 13 hr flight to refresh the skin.

Sisley – Cleaning Milk with Sage

Sisley Cleansing Milk with Sage

This is one of all time favorites for my family and friends. And, I get to keep the sample gift from whenever my family or friends replenish their supply mainly because I don’t wear make-up in my normal day-to-day life. In truth, I don’t like “moisture” texture as make-up remover or cleanser. I’m old school when it comes to certain things. However, it doesn’t give a greasy feeling, in fact, it can serve as a day moisturizer as well, and it’s effective to remove make-up and yet leaves the skin refreshed and radiant. Proceed to your daily or night routine, the skin will still have a light, non-greasy feel.

Note: It’s perfect to use on oily skin and will not be oily or greasy after gently washing off with warm water.

Sisley – Gentle Eye and Lip Makeup Remover

Sisley Gentle Eye and Lip remover

The reason I loved this make-up remover because 1. It smells very nice, not an artificial chemical smell. 2. It tastes very pleasant; no after taste, and it removed lipstick color residue very well even though it’s coming from natural plant extracts. 3. It does not dry out the skin (the eyes and lips) unlike many other cosmetic brands. I’ve tried other products such as Clarins, Shiseido, Lacome, Kiel’s, are quite strong for my skin, and in my case they all have stronger chemical or stronger plant smells which is harder to tolerate the taste in the mouth after wiping the lipstick color off.

Sisley – Buff and Wash Facial Gel Exfoliator Cleanser, Facial Exfoliator Whitening Cleanser

Sisley Facial Cleanser

Sisley_Phyto-Blanc Buff&Wash Facial GelIf you have been following my blog, you probably remember what I said about those two facial exfoliating cleansers from my earlier on posts. This is my favorite, favorite exfoliator and cleanser all in one. The beads give a gentle touch to remove a super fine thin layer of dead skin which is caused by pollution, stress or make-up residue. The gel smoothes the skin and provides the moisturizing feel as the final touch. Both products work very well individually and as well as complementary to each other. For example, I use the regular one during the spring/winter and the whitening one for the summer/fall.

Sisley – Gentle Facial Buffing Cream

Sisley Buffing Cream

I really loved this product, and I used it at least once a month during the summer season only. “Buffing” could be a misleading word sometimes; here, it can be read as “rough” on the skin especially on the face. Surprisingly, this particular facial buffing cream is a super fine cream and removes a thin layer of dead skin extremely well and yet leaves skin moist. The immediate result is that the face is clean, removes completely all the residue from the pores allowing cells to start regeneration to restore youth and lighten up the complexion. Oh, it helps the skin absorb skin products easier and maximizes the action from each product.

To be continued…
